Berry Pomeroy is owned by the Eastbourne Free Church Women's Council Inc. Ltd. They purchased Berry Pomeroy in 1951 in order to provide a caring home for the elderly where Christian values would be upheld. The voluntary committee for Berry Pomeroy is always drawn from the membership of the EFCWC.
Berry Pomeroy consists of two Victorian houses that have been joined together.
We have 22 bed-sitting rooms situated on all four floors of the house. Each is served by a passenger lift and 14 of the bedrooms have en-suite facilities.
Rooms are attractively decorated and furnished but we encourage residents to bring a few of their own small pieces of furniture and possessions in order to make their room homely.
All rooms are fitted with an emergency call bell.
Berry Pomeroy has two lounges. One is at the front of the house with views of the Grand Hotel parade of shops and another is at the rear with views of our private garden and its summerhouse. The spacious dining room also looks out on to the garden. There are ample bathrooms and toilets throughout the house including two assisted baths.
Berry Pomeroy is registered and regulated by the CQC - Care Quality Commission (formerly CSCI). Our quality of care is measured against the National Minimum Care Standards for 26 residents. We are also in membership with the East Sussex Residential Care Homes Association.
